Ebay Auctions and Policies I am a freelance miniatures painter who generates some of my income on eBay. I've worked professionally for Reaper Miniatures, which is why currently the overwhelming volume of work I've completed is their figures. I do, however, paint minis from several different manufacturers; my main factors when choosing a miniature for Ebay is the quality of the mini and how marketable I think it is (since usually minis I think are purdy other people do too). Here are the current policies by which I sell miniatures on Ebay. Note that these policies can change at any time, though they are usually tweaked between auctions to tighten up things to the way I like them. PAYMENT: I accept PayPal for all of my auctions (whether you're in the States or overseas). No negative bidders will be allowed unless you clear it with me prior to your bid. The reason I like PayPal is it takes a lot of the work out of keeping track of things which gives me more time to paint. Money orders and personal checks, while perfectly legal tender, take much longer to process; if you really really want to buy a mini from me yet detest PayPal for whatever reason contact me to work out possible alternate forms of payment. SHIPPING: Winner of my auctions will pay the calculated shipping rate for USPS Priority Shipping which includes insurance; I will put delivery confirmation on the miniature but that part will come out of my pocket. International buyers will pay the calculated fee for USPS International Shipping. I do not put insurance on my international packages due to the cost; if the buyer wishes, they can add the cost to their total as well. I always try to tack on as many safeguards as I can when dealing with delicate pieces of metal. Having the shipping cost calculated is the fairest way for both parties involved to be taken care of. I use several layers of protection on my minis to protect them in transit but I still like to cover all my bases. Since international shipments are fairly expensive I usually do not offer the bells and whistles. So far I have not had any problems shipping overseas (yes, I am knocking on wood) but it is up to the buyer if they want to pay for additional handling charges. RETURNS: In the unlikely (and quite horrible!) event the miniature gets damaged in transit I will be glad to repair and reship. Buyer agrees to pay S&H (including delivery confirmation) to return the mini to me where I will bring it back as close as possible to the state it was sold in, and I will pay S&H (plus delivery confirmation) to resend to the buyer. My minis are usually wrapped in tissue paper, sandwiched in several pieces of one inch craft foam, and sealed in a small cardboard box. Depending on the fragility of the miniature that small cardboard box may then be wrapped in one inch craft foam and placed in a larger cardboard box filled with packing peanuts. I take as much care as possible to ensure the miniature arrives on the destination doorstep as pristine as the pictures on my site. Sometimes I run out of certain packing materials, or I'm forced to be creative due to whatever reason. I'll always ensure the miniature has as many levels of protection around it as possible. I do not guarantee in any way, shape, or form that the miniature will arrive unscathed on the doorstep of the buyer as I have no control once the box leaves my possession. However, I have no problems doing repairs and touchups to a miniature if contacted and an agreement is made. I ask that the buyer pays the cost to send the miniature to me where I will do all I can to make the miniature as close to its shipped state as possible (as I can only do so much) and I will pay to ship it back. For instance, I had a lovely mini whose sword bent severely during transit. I was able to straighten out the sword, file down the metal to give it a mostly straight blade (as there was still a bit of a twist to it), and repainted the NMM to be as close to the original as possible. Some things just can't be fixed easily, but barring Homeland Security feeding it to a german shepherd I think I can take care of common problems from mailing. If you have any questions on my policies or suggestions please feel free to contact me via the above link and I'll endeavor to answer any questions you have. |
