There we go; now, this is Alvhaera, Dark Elf Cleric, from Reaper's Dark Heaven line, as painted by me and sculpted by Sandra Garrity. This photo is not only one taken after I fixed the huuuuuge errors with the last paintjob (ok, they weren't earth-shattering, but they definitely weren't Goldeneagle-worthy) but also after I bought a really nice tripod for the camera I use. It's got all those auto-gyro-stabilizers and whatnot, but my thinking is, if the camera's still in the first place you don't need that stuff.

This is probably one of my favorite pieces to date. I don't think the spider turned out all that well, but he still looks fuzzy, so it's all good in my book. The armor on her, though, was a blast to paint. I did her skin, leather, and black cloth/armor first before I did the NMM, so with all that white space I thought the rest was looking somewhat bland. After I started in on the armor, though, I realized I was going to be putting in way more time and soul than I thought :).

For those who are curious, the colors (in MSP's) are: Blackened Brown, Ruddy Leather, Uniform Brown, 50/50 Palomino Gold/Green Ochre, Saffron Sunset, Sandy Yellow, Linen White, and Pure White. Yep, eight colors just for one area, but I think it's worth it. The freehand on her cloth was done with a Da Vinci/Maestro 1 by drawing two white lines first across the black highlights, then lining them with black on each side, and then painting the white with the gold NMM again. Needless to say, I turn my caffeine intake down a notch during those periods.

The mushroom was painted with all the little spore areas underneath lined and colored gold like the spots; you just can't see it in the pictures, as you have to get pretty much under the mini. All in all I think she was a blast to paint.
