This is Halbarad, Human Cleric from Reaper's Warlord line, sculpted by Werner Klocke.

He was a lot of fun to paint; he started off as just a fun mini to mess around with, and to knock the rust off my painting fingers, but I grew to like him too much.

The Crusader symbol on his chest and back were painted on via freehand. It was actually pretty easy to do; I did a diamond first, shaded/highlighted it, then went back in with the "underlying" color to create the shapes. The mosaic on the base was done in a similar way. It was a hoot to do, and now that I know I can pull it off I'll be trying it on fancier/schamcier figures.

Metallics were really fun to use for a change, though I really have no idea how to photograph them well. The armor really shines in real life.

The text in the book isn't actual text (beyond the stylized "F") but just squiggles painted on with a brush. If it makes you feel better, I was running the "Holy Hand-Grenade" sermon in my head the entire time while doing it.
